Almost surely brake fluid boiling. As several have commented, you must replace the stock fluid with a racing fluid like Castrol SRF. You also must be acutely aware of any incipient fading before full fledged failure. If the pedal pressure starts going up it's time to cool off the brakes. The CTR and the like are heavy cars and require a lot of energy to be dissipated when braking. Luckily it was only a 65mph crash into the ARMCO at a slight angle and no air bags deployed.

I never visited in my life on this track but I have playd it hundred or thousands hours on Gran Turismo and this corner looks the most difficult of this track. Glad that you are ok and many wishes for fast recovery for a lot of enjoyment laps in the ring

Wurde jemals rausgefunden, was das Problem war? Kochende Bremsflüssigkeit oder Brake Fade kann ich mir schlecht vorstellen, da beides sich eigentlich im Voraus ankündigt und in der vorherigen Kurve ja noch alles ok zu sein schien.

Glad you are fine! It is weird that this 'track made' car did this and with so few km on board. Sounds like a brake hose blew/went off. If it was related with the pads/calipers etc you should feel fading and then fail but nothing like this on/off brake situation. Fading I'm experiencing on the track with every 'track focused' oem car like btw M/type r/Renault RS models that has the OEM pads but still they will 'tell' you when they are starting to fade. I was never a Honda fan but this situation is pretty nasty. I always believed and tested myself that honda is a very overhyped brand. They are fast ofcorse but not as fast as 99% of the people say. I read the comments but I found the only response from Honda was that you were driving too fast. Is there another response from them? cuz that is kinda shit 💩.

were you on stock brake pads and fluids? I always flush and swap before track days and the tracks I am on is nowhere near as intense as the Ring. Even then I've managed to get the car to fade on the brakes near the end of the track day (FK8). sorry you experienced that...has to be scary!

You need to upgrade brake fluid and brake pads when you take any street car to a race track period.

Seems like brake fade to me

I do not agree on the brake failure because of overtemperature: the system does not icnrease temperature of 100 degree in one curve, but it increase over time, so you would have feel already a decrease of breakinf power at previous corner till the complete failure like this. So the explanation must be different, maybe brake fluid not adeguate and then a very big air bubble created that has brought to failure, but than you should have seen during the inspection and the replacement of brake fluid (if you were able to to so after the crash)

Hello mate, any updates regarding the cause?

Track lesson nr one; change the brake fluid before racing and bleed the brakes. This kind of failures that you have nothing on the brakes will have clear brake indicators in the corners before. spongy feeling in the pedal, much more travel in pedal then normal, if you keep on yanking on your pedal as a no no you will get this....fluid and bleeding costs max 100 eu,.... and now? pffff....

As a Nürburgring local, i can tell you that this corner and braking point is one of the most demanding ones of the whole track, if not the most. just before this one you come from a complex of downhill corners with constant use of the brake pedal, which really demands a lot from the brake system. As people are pointing out on the comments, fading could quite probably be the issue of it, as i know multiple cases of brake failure on this specific corner

Make a video once you know what the issue was please. Im waiting for my acura integra type s here in the US which is basically the same car and that looked scary if thats really a software issue. im not planning to track it therefore i take the s2k but would be cool to know. Grüße

i know its a panic moment but maybe using the gear straight in to 3 2nd and 1st could have maybe maybe kind of avoided the situation but still am glad his okay x
